Charming scenery and a wonderful sandy beach make holiday parks near Dawlish a great choice. There are two sides to this Devon town – the centre with its shops, babbling brook and black swans, and the sandy beach. The latter sits on a spit of sand, with the estuary on one side and sea on the other. And it’s a protected nature reserve.
The wide-open green at the heart of Dawlish – called The Lawn – was made for picnics and games. When you want to explore the nearby area, head out on foot and join the South West Coast Path. Or cycle the Exe Estuary Trail for 16 miles from Dawlish Warren to Exmouth. The town’s bookended by Torquay and Exeter to the north and south, so it takes around half an hour to drive to both.

This beach is one for both sunbathers and nature lovers. It’s part of a nature reserve, making it a top spot for birdwatchers. Dogs are allowed year-round on a good chunk of it. Plus, it’s a pretty place to just take in the views of the sand dunes and sea.
This is considered one of the most scenic railway journeys in Britain and it runs through Dawlish. It follows the river, running under sea cliffs and trundling along from Exeter to Newton Abbot.
